Front discs and carriers?

I've got a spare pair of wheels that don't have discs on them and I'm looking for something else to put on them rather than the standard SD components.

I'm in no rush and was going to see what I can find used on EBay or trawl the forums over the next few months. But need to know what I can look for.

They have to work with the Brembo Monoblocks I have fitted but these are same dimensions as standard SD calipers, just better. (and they are better, honest!)

Anyone got any opinions on what could be good? I want looks and performance benefits. Was thinking of these:-

Or Braking or maybe some Ducati full floater units - but don't know which models will fit the SD wheels.

Not interested in any Chinese options thanks....Think too much of my life and everything.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Go with the Axis iron jobbies,,,,should work rather well with the mono-blocks,,,those carbon disc's they sell would be another choice for the carbon lover in you,,,,,,,,,,,
These EBC - X discs on e-bay $450.00 shipped to the UK don't look bad either

I've got these. https://www.motomummy.com/store/product ... 475&page=1 You can't beat the price. I never liked the stock brakes. No feel and noisy as hell. When I put the Braking rotors on, I changed the pads to Carbonne Lorraine SBK pads as well. I love the set up. Much better feel, true 2 finger braking and not nearly as much squeal.

I don't know if motomummy will export these. If you need a straw buyer, let me know.

Braking is nice, but I prefer the BrakeTech Axis rotors, especially the ductile iron version in the link of the original post. I believe the friction coefficient is noticeably higher on the Axis than the Braking. Also, if I'm not mistaken, the Braking rotors are semi-floating while the Axis rotors are full floaters. I will likely go with BrakeTech's CMC rotors when they become available again.

If you follow the link I put in the other thread it takes you to the brembo site, with a bit of clicking you can check the product number for the basic disc on every bike they list, cross reference this against the one for the SD and you are away !!

I have been running the Braketech Iron rotors with XRAC pads as recommended by Braketech. The difference between OEM and Braketech is like night and day.OEM is fine for street riding especially if you use alot of engine braking but for full on track riding I was struggling with the standard setup.I also use the RCS Brembo brake and clutch master cylinder setup.Cheers

Bic,

I reckon you should guineapig the Carbons. You know you want to.

Talked to the UK importer for Braketec. Steel discs are about £250 a side and iron about £280. The carbon composite type are not available at the moment as the subcontractor who made them has gone bust. Thinking about iron but there's no rush so I'll see what research I can do about getting some used Ducati/Brembo full floaters and see how much they are coming in at. I used to have an LC4 with Beringer iron disc on the front and it was awesome - but I wore out two discs in three years with hard riding so they do wear out quicker - I've never had to replace a disc on any other bike ever in 20 years.
