OK guys and gals, help me out here. I keep reading over and over again on here (and elsewhere) about how the full akra system and map brings this bike alive. I'm looking at the full Akrapovic system and it doesn't look much different than the OEM exhaust. What am I missing?

It still has the pre-silencer and I'm told it's not like holy-shit louder so what I'm wondering is if all this massive improvement people speak of just comes from the Akra ECU map and you'd see all/most of the improvement with the stock exhaust and that map?

Maybe I should also say what it is that I'm looking for when I ask these questions. I could care less about peak HP numbers. This is a street bike for me so what I'm looking for is the most stupidly massive amount of power available to me from 4,000 rpm upward. Anything that moves the torque and HP curves farther up in the RPMs and loses anything down lower is counter to my personal interest.

From what I know, which is admittedly less than many others, getting rid of the cat is the biggest improvement for performance. The pre-silencer is a resonating chamber, which helps reduce noise, but is much less restrictive than the cat. You also save 15 lbs or something...

If you want to increase midrange torque I havent seen any other system that can match the full akra. The resonator is the key - take it away and you move the performance curve higher in the rev range. Obviously you will need the akra map and maybe even a pvc and dyno session to tidy up the akra maps AF/rs. Its as simple as that. A modified airbox of your choice makes things even better again. Stick with the longer velocity stack choice for best low/midrange performance.
It all been written on here before.

no cat
And don't use the akra map with the stock system as you stated in your original post - AF/r's are wrong and the bike will be way too rich.
