Could someone give me some tips on how to get the rear wheel back on on the 990 please?
Struggled for ages and just couldn't get it right. Obviously the main issue is the sliding caliper. I assume this needs to be on its runners before lifting the wheel up? When did it that way everything seemed properly tight and the pads just snagged on the disc
Too much swearing for such a simple task
Cheers

You need the caliper on the rail from the beginning. I use a plank of wood to help pick the wheel up to w/in a couple of inches to where it all needs to go. Helps me align things w/I throwing my back out.

Does the caliper need to sit in its final position, before you put the wheel in? Wasn't sure if you had to move it further forward or back first?

The little bastard went in. Piece of wood was vital to my success! Thanks.

It can be a right coont to fit but trust me it's a walk in the park compared to my fooking Blade piece of wood def helps, pushing the pads back in the calliper also really helps. Mine has a habit of the wheel side pad dropping out of the calliper if you don't slot it perfectly in. I learnt early on to use a thin zip tie to keep it in place, you can just leave it there after fitting as it doesn't interfere with operation. Practise makes perfect though.

Many words similar to that we're running through my mind and exiting out, trust me! Everytime the wheel went where I wanted it to, the inside pad would drop out and hang down like a saggy tit. Literally thought I was going mad. Did the same job on my RSV last weekend and it took a few minutes.
I was hungover, tired, grumpy and hungry yesterday though. Worst combination really.

I'll take a pic of where I put the zip tie if you like. It totally solves that problem.

The rear wheel is such a bitch to get back in without assistance lol.
