I recently took delivery of the beast! Can anyone help? Ive done 200-300 miles on it and although it pulls well, below 20mph it doesnt run well at all. First gear up to 4000 revs looks like a minimum expectation from the bike so make traffic a knightmare on the clutch. Is this normal? Also when changing down if revs drop to much sounds like a bag of spanners...anyone got any ideas what rev range is minimum required for each gear? Ive been used to fireblades, gsxr, r6 smoothness and this spooks me right out....thanks for any help

Welcome to the SD!
Touchy down low is a character of the bike, mods can be done to ease this.
Although if you go mod crazy, you end up having to feather the clutch a lot!!
What mods do you have on the bike?

Nowt that i know of bud.....just seems like a shed load of work to ride under 30mph.....ive read up on tuning mods to help this but it sounds so rattly if you dont keep the revs up.

I do a lot of traffic riding on the SD and found first gear to be a real nightmare also. I ended up getting the front sprocket downsized to try and combat it.

Welcome to the nuthouse. I see you did some research on what the SD was like before you bought it
There are many threads about the problems you have described, plus many more mods/ways to sort them out on this site. Have a look at the "Must read" thread, it'll shed light one the situation.

Cheers for the feedback....its a 56 plate standard as far as i can tell other than some adornments. No vtwins in the past and had heard of throttle issues in my reading but just didnt think it was going to be this rough! Gearing not sure whats standard but thinking got to do something about it! Thinking of going back to the dealer and 'persuading' them a remap is necessary to get it running properly.....cans, filter, remap, power commander stuff been there all before and im sure will go there again! Just dont want to be doing it to a bike that needs that from the start!

Which area are you in? Take it to a fellow SD owner and see if it is normal first before anything else. If yo can't find a SD owner nearby
put up a video with audio. There's no point in us trying to offer sage advise about mods Etc when the bottom line is it really
could have something badly wrong. Eliminate the basics first.

Having to get it up to 4000 rpm in first gear to be able to get any smoothness doesn't sound right to me.
They do take some getting used to, but not that much!
Whereabouts are you?

It's 2013.
To describe a tarmac bike that makes 120BHP as a beast makes you sound like a bit of a fairy.
Welcome.
BTW -you're not THE peanuts of Funners type leathers fame are you?
