Greetings fellow Superdukers. What's the easiest way to remove and replace this pin. I bought my bike without mirrors, but I'm one of those wankers who likes to be able to see behind me without turning around. So I bought mirrors and have the clamps with the threads to hold the mirrors. I just need to remove and replace this pin and was hoping some one had an ingenious method besides a punch and a hammer. Thanks!

Best way is with a drift and mallet. You hit the nail on the head (if you'll excuse the pun)

I use an old drill the same diameter with the head filed flat. It will come out quite easily.

Why don't you just remove the screw under so it will remove by itself ? As I see in the picture no need to drill it will just open...

I think it's a roll pin or equal. My bet is they used a small press to press the pin inplace. My other bet is you don't have a press to remove the pin.
A straight shank drift punch the correct diameter would be your next best tool to use.

I did this on mine after breaking the clamp in a small off. The pit will come out if you use a punch the same width as the pin and just tap it out.

But you need to dismount it first to get it loose and easyer to push...

It's better not to dismount it - because you can't take it away from the bike as it is attached with hydraulic hoses. If all you want to do is replace the rear half with the component with the mirror thread then you are better to remove the pin in situ. It's easy, just slightly release the bolt so the pin is not under any tension and use a drift/drill to gently tap the pin out. Then reverse the process with the replacement component.

Do you have a chain rivet tool? They can be used to push pins like that one.

Thanks guys! Lots of good ideas. I do have a chain rivet tool. I never thought of that. My next problem is that the mirrors won't screw into part #10 on the schematic. I'll make another post addressing that. Thanks again.
