LSL steering damper issue

Putting one of the lsl on a '06 (fitting kit is for '05-'06) seem to line it up ok but when I do up the tank bolt there isn't the clearance and catches on the risers (which are standard). Any ideas from someone that's fitted one please
When you look at the tank bolt hole it's not in the middle but towards the back of the rubber gromet and making it difficult to get the bracket square, and now can't get the orig fuel bolt and rubber in square

Don't think it'll be a problem with the fitting kit. I'm guessing it's just the ol' tank alignment problem (do a search as there's plenty of threads about it).

The way I find it easier to fit is by undoing the rear bolts, getting the front on a few threads, then do up the rear followed by the front.

Thanks for that lads I'll do a search on alignment, must be that as the tanks shunted forward about 4mm, is this a common thing? The bolt was flush when I undid it, thought the tank had expanded as the sun was on it!

As Jambox says this is called the "Tank alignment problem" and has effected a lot of people. Basically the tank distorts and expands when released from the front bolt. The longer you leave it unbolted the worse it gets - even worse when full of petrol and even more worse if it's US ethanol petrol. You can get the bolt back in using a variety of techniques, (all listed in the threads), or get some modified hinge brackets from Motohooligan which make the pivot point adjustable and accommodating for all the tanks problems.

It's a basic design flaw. But we still love the beast.

Thanks for the input fellas all sorted now , did a bit of everything as had a full fuel tank and couldn't be bothered to run it out. So took of strut, undid back pivot bolts and cut the tank mounting/bolt rubbers and after a bit of pushing the front of the tank with flathead screwdriver managed to get the LSL bolt in and lined up in-line. Ordered a set of Motohooligan pivots just to make it easier next time
