Just had the following happen to me, thought I'd post it up and hopefully one day save some other poor bastard some time.
My bike cut out on the way home last week. My first thought was "sidestand switch" because it would run in neutral but cut out straight away when a gear was engaged.
I connected the bike to TuneECU and confirmed that the sidestand switch was outputting 4-5V irrespective of position. 4-5V is the expected output with the stand down. I also checked the clutch switch and that was working perfectly so this confirmed the sidestand switch as the culprit in my mind.
I bought a new switch and fitted it, but the problem persisted. I started checking further up in the wiring and found that the pin on the blue cable in connector AM3 (sits by the battery housing under the front spoiler) which supplies the sidestand switch with power had corroded through and snapped off in the old switch's connector. This is why it wasn't working. do not trust the presence of a reported voltage on the sidestand switch in Tune ECU to indicate that the switch has power. It may not have!
