i was able to purchase a brand new 07 SD for a dealership with 00000 miles and only got about 3 days and 175 miles on it until i had a little problem. i was getting puddles of "chocolate milk" under the bike after a ride. i looked under the the radiator cap and just as i suspected oil in the system.

to make a long story short, trailer to dealer for warrenty, 4 weeks of dealer going back and forth with KTM, get bike back.
the dealer was told by KTM to replace the water pump shaft and seals to fix the problem. this seemed to fix the problem because after about another 300 miles i havent had a repeat of the problem.

has anyone heard of this or can explain your thoughts on the problem and how this fixed it???

i am mostly curious if i am the only one to have this problem because i havent been able to find any other evidence of people have this problem though out my search of the internet. thanks for the info..

yes it is a common thing to wear out... normally between 15-30000km's though... (dont worry, it is not hard to do.. couple of hrs worth of work if you know what to do)

But I do think that your case is different because it has been sitting empty (drying out) for the last 4 years... enjoy many more km's of trouble free riding now.

I do have one question though... I hope that they have put new mineral oil back in the engine and not something good as your engine is so new it needs the crappy oil to bed in the piston rings... if this is now synthetic oil or a good quality semi synth then expect to have a bike lacking power in the future and a high oil usage.

get the bedding in oil... and thrash it for 200miles or so, drop out that oil, put in a fresh lot of bedding in oil and thrash for another 200 miles (dont do constant revs, always accelerate (from low to high revs) or decelerate (pain i know but it works), then put in the good stuff in for a trouble free life.
