Hey guys. Here's the story. 2007 SD 990, had 14000km on it when I bought it. At 15000km I had valves checked, oil changed, all filters checked, chain sprocket replaced, tyres replaced. So I thought I would be trouble free for a while. Then they had to replace some sort of oil tube on the right side (was originally one tube, but the part has now been replaced to a 3 part tube with a "t" so you might know what I'm referring too. Then changed both tyres. So now I thought I'm definitely golden for a while! Had the suspensions professionally tuned. Ordered replacement rotors to stop the front brakes from pulsating.
Yesterday I noticed my oil lever had dropped a bit...rode down to my brothers house with plans of a great ride today (perfect Autumn weather), to notice the oil level is barely at the minimum an hour later, the straw is basically empty. Then noticed oil on the left side of the engine. I take great care of my bikes and never noticed any oil leakage since I bought it and wasn't there before the hour ride. It's now at 18500km and I'm starting to lose trust in this bike (reminds me of my 2013 Ducati Monster 1100 which I sold after 6000km because as much as the bike was awesome, it had the reliability of a computer sunk in salt water). So frustrated as the bike is so awesome otherwise.
You can also see the plug thingy at the top doesn't seem to be well sealed, but not sure if it's part of the problem or not.
Unfortunately I cleaned the oil mess before taking the picture, but I noted where it seemed to be coming from.
Any help more then welcome!
Thanks!

Think you'll find most of the lost oil is in your airbox due to failed balance shaft seal.........................
