Hi guys,
I found out today while walking behing my running bike with a white t-shirt that it is spitting out what looks like very small dropplets of oil. I have also notice that my bike smell strange mostly when I stop at lights but it smells more like gas than oil. It does burn a little oil which I heard was normal for KTMs and it definitely gets pretty bad MPGs. I also recently noticed there seems to be a very small amount of oil leaking from the joint between the air filter and throttle body on the rear cylinder.
It's a California Superduke which was fitted with a R engine, Motobox, FMF Apex exhaust, O2 sensor mod, gear sensor mod and evaporative canister removed by the previous owner. I don't think the ECU was ever tuned so I wonder if all my issues can be related.
Thanks for your help.

If you still have the SAS connected I guess the oil makes it way from the air filter in the SAS system and out the exhaust.
The SAS is the valve behind the airbox and via the 2 rubber hoses in to the 2 plates on the side of the cylinderheads front right and rear left side.
The description of the oil leaking out of the bottom of the airfilter plate seems to confirm that.
Check your oil and open the air filter box, look for excessive oil or "mayonaise". You might have a worn water pump seal and that creates pressure and pushes oil out of the sump ventilation in the airfilter. Do a search here for waterpump shaft or seal and some treads will pop up.

It could be the balance shaft seal on the way out?

***Update***
After more investigation, it appears the oil only spits out of the engine when it is still cold and somehow it stops as I start riding. I am also not 100% sure it's oil, I wonder if it could be "dirty gas" as it felt pretty thin to the touch. Maybe updating my maps will help things out since I feel like it's running way to rich, somehow this is strange with a Motobox as you would think it would allow more air in the system.
Now the leak on the rear piston looks kind of old and dry-ish. I am due to clean up the air filder and change the spark plugs soon so I will take a good look at what may be happening. Maybe the bike was overfilled once and that is just the result of an overflow.
Anybody has a good link on how to remove the gas tank and maybe even how to adjust the valves if I decide to get in there and take the risk or doing the full maintenance myself? Is there any special tools I need for either of those tasks.
Thanks for your help and advise!
