Hi All,

I believe I've read it elsewhere but couldnt for the life of me find it via the search. I've just installed my Anti-Gravity Li battery 12-Cell.

Yesterday while replacing the battery I checked for parasitic drain and by process of elimination found that I have 0.2mA loss due to the Clocks (Instrument Cluster) is this normal or do I have dodgy clocks?

I havent charged the battery since I got it in January/Feb this year. Read 13.4V this morning prior to starting and 13.2V with lights on (from memory).

I started the bike this morning and got a soft dat error but after starting again (and a little freak out of getting stranded at work on the way home) it was fine starting again really fast infact almost first stroke! (So I'm guessing this is considered a cold start as it was about 8DegC). So the battery needed to warm up perhaps.

So should I be worried about this 0.2mA (will have to check units on my cheap multi-meter) drain and my Li battery?

What readings do you guys have? I'm thinking of buying the charger to make sure I dont get stranded after not riding it for a day.

Cheers,
emu

As some will know I've spent a fair bit of time mucking about with speedo's of late. There is an interesting phenomenon
on the 07+ speedo's - if you plug them in with the ignition off they sometimes whir and sometimes the F1 light comes on.
This doesn't happen all the time and appears related to swapping from one speedo (<07) to a >07.

The bottom line is that the 07+ clearly has power and does some sort of powering on routine even with the ignition off.
Thus there probably is some low level drain.

0.2mA is not a lot!
If your battery is for example 12Ah then it would take that current drain 2500 days to deplete the battery

I think...

0.2 mA is nothing really, thats probably to keep the clock going.
This type of battery needs a bit warming up when it's cold. Here I can't try this as the coldest this winter was 8 C at night.
Normally turning the ignition and leaving the lights on for a bit does the trick.
I have to say never had any problems with the antigravity yet, cranks like a b@stard even after not using the SD for 2 weeks.

There was a guy on the Adventure site that stated that when he aplied the "KILL" switch when he shut the bike off the apparent drain on the battery vanished,,perhap's something you could try

What amps is the battery 14 or 18 ?
I had a Shorai 14 amp and it crapped out in only just 5 months but the dumb bit is that the dude I bought it off
replaced it with another 14amp in a different brand.
The Shorai site says 18amp for SD.

i have an anti-gravity battery as well - stopped riding the SD for 2 months because needed to check valve adjust's. finally got valves done - battery work'd perfect even after sitting 2 months,

sometimes when it's really cold i just turn the ignition on before i get my gear on - usually does it .

cheers

Battery is here 12-Cell, 360 CCA, 12 Amp Hours (PbEq) same spec as their specced replacement for the stock battery (I bought mine before they offered this one.

I think it came down to re-learning how to use a battery so used to not leaving the lights on and draining the battery, leave the lights on and give the start a quick push 1s then wait a sec then push again and BAM starts every time so far even when it's around 8 DegC.

Thanks for the help guys and the kill switch didnt solve my drain.

Was reading 13.9V ignition off this morning. Left lights on while I finished getting my helmet and gloves on then started almost didnt start but did lol. Man do these batteries mess with your head, all those donts for lead based that you have to do for Lithium.

well two weeks on and a few more cold starts ie 6-7 DegC in the morning and I think I am getting the hang of how to start these batteries! I just leave the lights on for a few minutes and get ready then bam she starts, starts quicker the longer I leave the lights on lol

I'm gonna be stuffed when I go back to lead based lol
