Perished/cracking dash cluster

Hi all,

I have a bit of an issue with the dash on my 2005 Superduke. I live in Australia and my bike is often parked where it gets a bit of sun. The clear plastic covers over the speedo and tacho on my bike have now started to break down and are cracking and difficult to see through. I contacted my dealer about getting replacements and they said that the speedo and tacho are sold as complete units, for several hundred dollars each. I'm considering my options at the moment, but will probably either contact the state KTM manager and see if he can help or just see if I can get something custom-made. Another option may be to get an aftermarket dash, but that is likely to be expensive. So, a few questions:

1. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, what did you do about it?

2. There were multiple versions of the KTM dashes due to the fogging issues, does anybody know if the newer versions had better UV stability, and can they be retro-fitted to the 2005 or are they different? I don't really want to have this problem again in another 8 years time.

3. Does anyone know of any aftermarket gauge units/covers etc. that may solve my problem?

4. Any other tips/advice? (apart from not parking it in the sun)

Cheers,

Richard
