When I installed aftermarket pipes on my bike I had some serious popping issues as well. Both on stock map and on each and every custom map that I had experimented with.

For some reason I have difficultly with Tune Ecu saving settings I guess. For example: after removing secondary butterflies, shafts, and motor, the bike responds with a FI error code as it should. Through Tune Ecu, it was my understanding that I could remove any error codes and I attempted to do so by checking the box, however the FI error is still present and still flashes. If you have the SAS system still installed, make sure it is saving your settings.

Also, does simply disabling the SAS through Tune Ecu remedy the popping noise? Since all the hardware is still there, and the blanking plates are not installed, perhaps the popping noise is still present because air is still allowed through the hoses. My advice: get a pair of block off plates and yank that junk out of there. This almost completely fixed my popping problem. I still get some pops when ridden hard, but I feel like this will go away once I get a proper dyno tune.

-Not sure as i kind of did everyting to the bike at once. Maybe i should put the map back to the way it is setup (08_SDGuysCustom_possibly_the_best_map_for_aftermarket_pipes_.hex). I went ahead and changed SAS, O2, etc based on a forum post i read.

Do you think just keeping the settings on the map the way it comes is the best bet?

Maybe may question should be:
with LV slipons and NO other mods to bike, what boxs should be ticked and which ones unticked when i put on Guys Map?

Not familiar with this exhaust gasket

Where would I locate it?

it joins the rear header to the rest of the exhaust ....hard to see down by swing arm

Since I only did slipons I never went near that ring so shouldn't it be part of bike already?

Are you fitting the entire airbox or just the SAS block off plates?

If you go to the Motohooligan web site there is a downloadable PDF instruction document which I made back when I originally fitted it. I recorded my removal session and designed this for Aaron, (Motohooligan owner), because I was such a fan of the kit and wanted to make it easy for people to install. It's a photo story with easy step-by-step instructions. It's not hard but like Klinky says the front SAS plate is a bitch to do - only because of the access to the two retaining bolts. You either need small hands or a ring spanner with a hinged head. I got my 9 year old son to do it!! When you see the amount of crap and un-neccesary stuff that you remove in this exercise you really wonder why they put it on in the first place. (Euro emissions regs) It's a liberation and looks better too! And it's SO much easier to work on the bike. A no-brainer.

If you want to do a good job and not feel rushed I would set aside a good half day in a clean, warm workshop to do the job. It's not hard but you just need to be methodical. If you're getting a re-map done, either by Tune PC or a Power commander then it's also worth thinking about removing the secondary butterflies from the throttle bodies at the same time. Most people who fiddle with this stuff have done this. I still run the Motohooligan modified secondary flies because they were mapped for my current engine settings.

Thank you
I have your instructions printed, looks clear

I guess I will do sas with airbox, at same time

I'm using guys map and wonder if I should remove secondary flies or leave them?

I think the airbox comes with some flies?

I haven't read every post sorry but if you are still running the standard air box you still need to put a marble in the sas hose that is located on the back of the air box.
It runs from air box to sas valve.
The pop will not stop just by turning the sas off. As Jack Palance say's Believe it or not!

Removing sas today

When I apply map should sas have a check mark next to it?

Not sure if check mark means system there and active or removed

How hard is it to change that stupid graphite ring? Looks like the complete exhaust have to be taken off the bike?

I thinks Guys map is lean, leaner than stock map, or ? Should be too lean for the Leovince..
