Took the bike into Projex yesterday for a remap (they use tune ecu, most other people I spoke to wanted to fit a power commander).
I had fitted a rotty airbox and the bike already had akros, and was running the standard akro map, fitting the box was an improvement but the fuelling obviously wasnt right, I tried Guy's map which seems to be recommended for this set up, it was better but didnt run very well below 3000rpm.
Took the bike for a spin last night and the new map is a big improvement, dyno was saying 109bhp with guy's map and finished up at 113bhp, obviously this doesnt tell the whole story as the biggest improvement was below 3000rpm where they reckoned it was running very rich.
Interestingly they had 2 990 SMRs in some time ago both with the same spec, remapped the first and then put that map onto the second and it was way out.
I guess the moral of the story is dont mess around with generic maps get the bike properly sorted, cost was under £200 which included removing the secondary butterflys.

A nice few extra Hp but i suspect what you will notice most will be the "ride-ability" and the way it spins up quicker …… and the extra noise! My wife had a standard SD and rode mine (rotty etc) - came back in the pits saying she thought something was wrong because of all the noise!

…And for all the people out there with generic maps…….. i can't urge you enough to find a dyno and spend a couple of quid on a proper map. It makes such a difference!
