Dear Friends,

I want to take a woman out now and again on the Superduke, they love that thing . I am about 200lbs all geared up and she would be abotut 120lbs. I don't take girls out a lot and the bike is kinda small for that. Do you have any advice how to firm up the rear? She wants me to go to some twisty mountains.

Thanks!

Ken

Is she hot??

I guess the spring pre load is all the way up already as it is rated 180lbs. The only thing you can do is dial in a bit more damping unless you want to fork out for an heavier spring.

I'm about 110kg myself with all gear, and my brother is about 90kg with gear, and I've ridden with him before, it works, but the bike is not as fun as it could be
Driving with his girlfriend thats probably about 60kg and it's a lot more fun to drive around with her! You can easily fit, no problem. Just tell her to hold onto you, you'll both have a nice trip

I used to take the Mrs out on mine OK and I'm about the same weight as you and she's about 150lbs in her gear. The only problem we had was she's almost my height so everytime I eased off the throttle or braked I got headbutted

It does depend on how big she/you are

120lbs you are not going to notice her (my mrs is about the same) Its not bad two up .. handling 85% so still fun..brakes ..no problem there
My mrs said that its Ok .................much better than any sports bike thats for sure

Thanks for all the help!

We went out yesterday and had a blast.... I mean great ride

I do have a question about preload and rear shock...

I swear I had a tool to tighten the coller on the spring but it isn't in the tool kit (KTM) or my tool box. Am I crazy?

What tool are you all using to tighten the collar on the rear shock?

I'm in the USA.

FYI, small preload adjustments have a profound effect on the bike's handling. It took only one less turn of preload to change my bike from wanting to stay leaned over after finishing a turn and getting on the gas to popping upright after finishing a turn.[/quote]

That is REALLY good to know!

Thanks,

Ken

Take the weight off the rear shock (ABBA stand or get someone to hold up on the side stand) undo locking collar, and turn springs in the direction you want to go ( you can get a lot of leverage and use both hands)
