Whats your thoughts and experiences with scottoilers,
Have read good and bad things about them, are the new versions improved on the older models?
Doing a big trip next March with 4-500 km per day for 10 days.

Anyone tried this oiler, http://www.tutorochainoiler.com/index.php/categories
the boys on the smt forum are using them.
Works on inertia with no electrics or vacum needed.

Not really popular here in the US although I have seen them on some bikes here (Mostly Triumph guys). Cant really see it being better than regular chain maintenance to justify $129 for the least expensive kit.

I see it as a gadget..
a market.???
For the S.D.???
Not really...
I wouldn't want to think in our state
of mind with track days etc..Even just normal
maintanance..It being something extrodinary...
Chain maintenance...is weekly eh.????
Clean..adjust..lube and replace...
Let it go with a lube system...
You're gonna have chain failure...

I have the Scotts oiler on my Triumph Tiger. It mounts behind the rear license plate. It' great ...when it's working. Some bit o shit in the lines now keep it from working that I have not tracked down yet. Sure is nice to oil the chain all the time, instead of after the ride. Self cleaning. As for one mounted on my SD Not yet, but a bud did give me a flexable Scotts oil bag that could be stuffed in that SD tail section. One thing I can suggest if you don't mount a Scotts chain oiler for it's contuined cleaning fuction is to carry a "Grunge Brush" to clean the chain before you lube it. It's a purpose built chain cleaning brush with 3 brushes mounted on a handle, that I cut down. I clean / lube the chain after a dirt road / rain on the Adventure / dual sport bikes. Bikes with center stands are a great aid in this task. On my XR650R I turn the gas off, put it in gear, lean the bike over on the side stand, let the clutch out and use the brush on the chain as the wheel spins. Then I apply some 90 weight to the inside of the chain which flushes the dirt out. If I don't turn the gas off, the gas will flow out of the carb and flush the oil off the chain.
My SD is not my touring bike and I don't see me mounting an oiler any time soon. I bought a small squezze bottle of Teflon chain lube from a pedel bike shop I carry on the SD.

i had a scotoiler on my sd and both my firestorm
works a treat
only thing is make sure you position the reservoir as vertical as possible as
it will leak if layed flat
