What do you guys use to clean up your headers?

I was just gonna use a scotch bright pad and some mothers.

Any recommendations?

For those of us on the up market side of the pond Mexico isn't the answer. We do have Rumania etc but I think I'm interested in a self managed solution.

Over the winter I'm going to be breaking down and substantially rebuilding my SD focusing on cosmetics as I believe it to be mechanically sound and fully developed already. This will include the headers which are a bit scruffy at the moment.

I hate the taped up scruff look and would be interested in anybody who had had good success with this before. I'm thinking get them shot blasted to remove the crap and then either polished, coated or possible sprayed black.

If you have done the job I would be interested in what worked for you??

polishing works temporary because the brown/gold will allways return
I use to easy get rid of this brown/gold, but like said, this will return on the first ride.
ceramic caoting is an option, comes in various colors, but never matches stainless steel
