Can anyone help please. I think I read that the whole unit flips forward but I don't know how to do it. Thanks.

OK I figured it out for myself and it's dead easy!
First remove the windscreen (4 bolts removed from the front).
To release the unit housing the headlight, there are 4 bolts to be removed. All are removed with an Allen key.
The first two are behind the unit, 1 on either side, just forward of the headstock. They are fairly close to the centre and you remove them from behind the unit.
The second two are located underneath the headlight unit right at the front, over the wheel. They are removed from below. They have metal spacers which can drop out when you remove them.
Once all 4 bolts are removed you can easily pull out the whole unit from the front of the bike. It's still attached by a wire to the headlight bulb.
Job done!
