I'm curious to know what the SD will feel like with the OEM exhaust and ECU map installed.
My bike came with Akropovic cans but the OEM muffler was included too The muffler has two hooks that I assume are meant to be used when mounted - are there hangers required for fitment? If so, I'd really appreciate a photo of the OEM fitment.
Thanks.

why oh why would you want to put that boat anchor back on? its like going to the gym, working out but wondering what it feels like to have the 20 lbs back on that you just sculpted off!
if you really want the experience, put the SAS system back on too!
man i removed mine the first year i owned it, but if i remember right there are hooks on the subframe as well, with a rubber isolator between those and the muffler hooks.

Well, it is a marvel of manufacture. And I like the look of the tail with the OEM muffler.
The changeover should only take around an hour. Just curious to feel the before and after difference.

I think I've got it.
It seems I need 2 sets of part number 61005013000 (rubber silencer support) and 61005014000 (sleeve silencer support). A pair of each is slipped over the muffler hangers and then into the hollow frame tubes of the rear subframe.
Can anyone confirm I've got the bit right about slipping the assembly into the subframe tube ends?
Thanks.

The engineering marvel comes fully equipped. The hook hangers slip into the lower subframe tube, which most likely still has the rubber grommets installed. The other mount point, apart from the connection to the head pipe, is the tab that bolts to the subframe.
It is heavy, unless you need quiet and need extra heat all year round you'll probably reverberate and go back to the Akras. Good luck

The stock cans get so stinking hot just watch out you dont burn yourself and the sub frame will get
really hot also.
I wouldn't bother with that crap.
Also if your thinking of putting soft bags on the back make sure you carry a fire extinguisher

Amusing. Never heard of ANYONE trying to put these back on. agree with everything said above. WHY? They are massively heavy, restrictive and ugly.
But if you want to see what they are like without going through all the hassle of mounting the OE units why not just strap a huge sack of potatoes onto the pillion seat, (about 20 kilos) after having used the biggest pair to plug up the end pipes. This should sound and feel about right as well as ruining the handling, suspension set up and weight distribution. Good luck!

One of the members of this forum cut the stock muffler open, cleared out the cat inside and created a new baffle. He also preferred the look, lost a bunch of weight and gained some power. Do a search and you should find his post. It was from a couple of years ago.
