I am thinking of fitting a shock sock and I am concerned about the proximity of shock to the exhaust. Therefore I would be interested to hear from anyone who has fitted a shock sock and whether they have experienced any heat damage to the sock.

Thank you

It only melts if the seam twists or not a tight fit, as the velcro is a bit thicker and thats the only place it melts.

If you put it on properly is good.

Mine melted slighly but was probably moe due to fitting and you could not see the singed bit anyhoo.

Why would you want to fit one?

+1 looks fuggly, took mine off after a week, shock body and damper rod was covered in condensation, not good.......

could start corrosion...... could cause the shock to overheat when going mental........... not melted though

No good if you leave it on the bike all the time. I used one for a few weeks and found that the sock keeps in dampness and causes the shock to rust ...
They do keep the dirt off the shock but you will need to take it off and dry it after every wet ride in order to prevent it causing corrosion.
