Under hard acceleration, i feel that there is some lag, it almost feel like the RPM's raise but the bike doesnt take off like it should. Is there a way to adjust the clutch, Im not familiar with STM clutches, the previous owner got it put on.

So adjustment for a STM slipper, so it grabs harder.

thank you very much

What Nm pressure plates have you fitted to the STM? What oil are you using, did you measure your clutch plate thicknesses before reinstalling them? Did they remove the pressure plate ring for the small clutch plate when they fitted the STM clutch?

Honestly I didn't fit the slipper clutch, so I know nothing about it. Is it possible for me to open the clutch without oil leaking and me just tighten the springs? From what I've been researching it seems pretty easy to do.

Yes, if you put it on side stand you can open it up with out any oil dripping out.

I think this is the one Colenel Klink and Bic Bicknell had, they changed to different plates IIRC check their posts.

I had a sigma which was different.

Heres the thread but its massive! It was a Suter clutch though but they are the same as the Ktm hard parts slipper. If the STM clutch is similar and uses a flat spring rather than conventional springs it may be that it just needs a stronger spring plate fitted. Is the bike putting out more power than the standard SD?

Both Bic and I had to change our main diaphragm springs as the bike was slipping under power. Also pack thickness is a factor. Measure the pack thickness of all the steels and friction plates together. I need to change my friction plates again. The revs are dropping too much on overrun when the bike isn't fully up to temp. First sign of plate wear.

I got a stronger spring from suter uk after reading bics and clinks problems, so far all is good

I am in the process of taking the clutch apart. I called my dealer and he doesnt know the thickness of the stock clutch plates and the thickness of the progression plate. If someone knows those for when i take it apart, please let me know.

thank you

Bloody hell, does you're dealer not have a repair manual to check because I know it's there but not got it anymore. That's why I try not to take bikes to dealers, jeese. Stuff like that they should have on file.

I'm sure you can download the manual off this forum somewhere.

I have one of the manuals but it doesnt say anything about removing the clutch, let alone the thickness.

if anyone has any experience with installing or removing a STM please pm me.

They are the standard weight springs youve got there - now`t wrong with them!

Your clutch pack is within spec so id be looking at your oil choice.

SDs are real picky with oil choice (just ask Bic who chased clutch problems for ages before changing oil and all clutch problems going away)

Ive been using http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOBIL-1-RACIN ... 3f2297a18e for the last 2 years without a single problem with my STM slipper

you know what im just goig to change the oil to the one at the dealer. I went with the 10/40 for the price of it, but if my clutch is going to act up like this i might as well rule out oil.

lets just say i did want less engine braking and wanted to change out the secondary spring, where can i get one?
