Hello all!
The time has come to get the duke back on the road! I threw it in the shed 6 months ago with oil p#ssing out of everywhere and havnt looked at it since, thinking "I'll fix it myself for next summer" I've just realised that it's not that far away! I have had the added "distraction" of having a son between now and then which puts all hobbies in the back burner....
But now I've decided to take my bike up to my mates workshop and change out the base gaskets on my own ( with expert advice) I was also thinking of doing a couple of mods whilst the guts are out.
I know there's a lot of info for base gaskets on here but can anyone send a link to all the relevant guides etc..? And the right parts to order and where I can order online?
Other than that what's new in the land of SDs? I haven't been on for ages, I think the only forums I've been looking at are "baby help" and things like that in the middle of the night!
Cheers in advance for any help!

What year do you have?
Early LC8's had problems with the cylinder bolts not torked to the correct spec because of a "missing" washer under the cylinder nuts.
If you can't get the info on this site you might spend some time on the ADVrider.com site in the OrangeCrush section.
You might find the cases mating surface with the cylinder "eroded" and not a flat surface.
A bud has a 2004 ? KTM Adventure LC8 motor on his work bench that leaked oil from the base gasket.
Looks strange, like corrosion or electrolysis ate the surface away about .005-.010 inch deep.
Not sure what the cheep fix is other than some super type of epoxy, or machining the surfaces flat.
Good luck.

Here is mine. I would highly recommend using a sealant on the base gaskets and over torquing them by a few nm.
