Mine's just snapped - will replace both - any 'do's or don'ts' other than minimum slack?

I had a throttle cable snap on me on my 1986 600 Ninja. I had the cables adjusted with minimum slack to remove the slop in the throttle respounce. On a long trip returning from B.C. Canada I was pushing my bike in a campground site and snapped the throtle cable. I had the cable too tight. Luck had it that there were two cables, push and pull afair and I made it home with alot of worry about the slides sticking open.

PS - for those with SDRs, the rubbers between the throttle body and the heads are different (certainly different part numbers) from the SDs with a flange profile around the base of the OE airbox, ie they did not come out with the throttle body as per one of them in Bic's Motobox installation guide and look different from the photos in the guide - I managed to tear both trying to get them and the base out................
