Hi guys
I am new to this form just got a 08 SDR in jan from the KTM centre in Hemel Hempstead and having some problems with the twitchy throttle response. I have spent hours looking throw this sight trying to find a cure but I am stuck.
Here's a list of things I have done to try and smooth it out.
Removed sas, second flies and shafts, O2 sensors,
Tried the smooth akro map with tuneECU
There was a g2 throttle on it when I got it not sure what cam
even had it at my dyno man yesterday and go a custom map 134bhp
But around town it is still really twitchy to the point I have to keep clutching it around corners. I love the bike and as soon as I go out of town all is forgiven can anybody give me a few ideas on what to try next ?

are you running a motobox or equivalent... that makes a huge difference.

Which airbox and exhausts?
I run with round Akra's, pod filters, G2 throttle cam, James'/Jocke's map with O2 sensors on, no SAS and it's as smooth as.

Hi
I have the full akra but standard air box I did cut the top of the air box and fitted a k&n filter to no avail

It's an 08 SDR. "Twitchy" defines it!

maybe the tps sensor is a bit temperamental? Not too much play in the throttle cables (or too little)?
one of those rotty boxes should help a lot but if its that bad, im not sure.
Maybe part of it is riding style? Too tight on the bars? The throttle will always be quite on/off but it shouldnt be too bad. Who is the closest SD rider to compare with?

The Orkneys are a little too far for me.

Do you know the best place to get a tps sensor or is it worth checking first ?

Check with TuneECU or your dyno man first.

They're all supposed to be 'twitchy' but the mods you've made are guaranteed to make it more rather than less. Removing the secondary flies makes the bike sharper off a closed throttle and in early throttle openings especially in the lower gears.
Personally it's never been a problem however if it is causing you an issue raising the tick - over by a couple of hundred rpm does help and, as a last resort you can always drag the back brake slightly in your transition from closed to open - this can be very effective on greasy roundabouts.
BTW - moving the tick over to around 1500rpm can help on track but it is best to start the bike in gear because the gearbox shunt when selecting 1st is like driving a penknife through concrete - not for the mechanically sympathetic!

I checked with my dyno guy and he said the tps sensor was Spot on

I have found it helpful to put some slack in the throttle cable. Make sure you don't have it so tight that any little lean of the hand makes it rev.
You can also fatten up the tune a little at low throttle angles. These big twins buck and snort at low RPM's, its just their nature, but they will smooth out a bit if you feed them some fuel.

I have been out on it most of today and I don't think I gave it a chance yesterday after the dyno. it is a lot better today think it needs a wee tweek but it's not bad.
I think I was worried that there was something wrong with it but now that I know that's just how they are I feel better and I am sure I can drive round it.
Thanks guys !
