Just in case you don't find the info you want, I'll share my experience with you.

When I bought my bike it had a 190/50 pirelli angel and the bike allways felt a bit sketchy on turn in, a bit hard to explain, but certainly didn't feel solid and did affect my confidence.

When I changed that tyre I got a standard size 180/55 pirelli angel, so same compound different size,

Made the world of difference, the bike just wants to be pushed hard all the way through corners now

I just switched to the Metzler M5 180/55 and 120/70 and these are some of the best tyres that I've ever run. The only problem with them is they come new looking like they been waxed. You must be careful when braking them in as they will be like glass for the first 100 miles. Sticky sticky after that. Can you scrub the elephant?

I was looking at these to replace my Pirelli Diablo Corsa lll which are freaking scary when it gets damp out. Have you ridden the metzlers in the rain yet? If so how are they? So many tyre choices nowadays.[/quote]

Amen to that. I don't trust my Corsa III's when its cold and wet either. I am curious about the new Bridgestone s20s.

100 miles pffft. Chicken strips gone in first 20. At the track, 2 maybe 3 laps - tops. It varies by brand, but most manufacturers don't use mold release on tyres any more - the molds are PTFE coated. There is some slippery stuff that comes to the surface from manufacture, but I just give it a quick wipe down with brake cleaner.

I hear you all on those Pirelli SC IIIs. They were lousy everywhere IMO. Cold, wet, hot, whatever.

I'm a fan of Pilot Power 2s. 120/70 front, 180/55 rear. A lot of guys swearing by Dunlop Q2s. As I said elsewhere, if it were colder/wetter here in winter - I'd be rolling on Pilot Road 2s or 3s.

I am getting pretty sure reading all these tyre threads that the US market gets different compound tyres to that we get in the UK /Europe.........

Its the only logical explanation as to why a really good tyre over here can be so shitty over there

My experience with a 190 rear -

I bought a set of Pirelli Supercorsa scrubs of my guy who deals with scrubs, grabbed what i though was my usual 120 SC1 front and a 180/55 SC2 rear, went home stuck them (i do my own tyre fitting) then went out and did a quick road test before my next trackday in 2 days. The bike just felt odd

I wont be putting a 190 on the rear again thats for sure!!!!!
