I had a weird "problem" occur to me this evening when I returned from a 300 km trip to home. My bike is a -09 Superduke and it was just at the 30.000 km big maintenance recently.
A bit before I reached home all the lights in my dashboard started lighting up randomly and while doing so, the needle on the dashboard would go from down to up to down just like when you turn the power on in the bike, the speedo would also give random numbers and occasionally show it correctly.
Seemed to work fine at 80 km/h speeds when driving steady the same speed. The blinkers would occasionally blink very fast and once at traffic lights I tried rebooting the bike (power off, power on) and it would not start with 3 attempts. I got it running on 4th attempt with my clutch down. This all suddenly stopped happening about 5 km before I got home. And it would start fine and no lights blinking while I tried it at at my home yard. Any ideas?
Edit: I'v had this bike a bit over a year and the battery was original when I unplugged it last winter while it was sitting in the warm garage.

Everyone will try to tell you it's a problem with the clocks and that's what you will too.
Trust me though it's your regulator / rectifier. Very common problem on ktm's
It will fry your battery so try to check it's connections first, if all good get a new reg/rec and possibly battery too.
Happy to help

Some wire is not properly connected or the regulator has gone to shit and needs replacing?
How fast would you say it will fry my battery? Is it wise to drive it to a service?

There's a black wire that comes from the reg/rec on to of the battery box to the battery. The ends seem to rub through and it earths. Hopefully this is your problem. If not definitely replace the reg/rec , it's an easy job to do yourself. As it gets worse it can blow headlight bulbs, you may notice your headlight gets brighter when you rev the bike.
I wouldn't ride it given the choice.
Search on here for soft dat 32 rectifier problem thread, lots of info. Sorry can't do link from my phone

Karko;
I am in complete agreement with BLzBub. I too had and have the same shit residing in my dash. I will replace the R/R and the battery.
As a side note this has been on and off reaccuring theme for many years. It is a strange thing but it is my belief that a new battery masks the R/R problem due to cells that can handle the pain. When a battery wares down it no longer has a quality that lets it deal with a malfunctioning R/R. As painful as the cost of replacing both the battery and the regulator/rectifier may be to your wallet, this I recommend. I would also recommend the use of the old fashioned lead acid battery as I feel that the jury is still out on the Lithium-iron units.
