Hi! I'm new to the forum, and i'm also quite rookie/newbie when it comes to technical stuff.

About a week ago I was wondering why there was "smoke" coming from beneath the bike. Investigation reveals it was oil that burnt on top of the pipes. As there was a tiny puddle of oil on the garage floor under the bike.
Since then I noticed it had left a tiny tiny "puddle" of oil on the floor again. This happened after the bike was unused for 48 hours. I did not encounter any oil leakage when i was riding few days ago, the bike was hot and I parked it for an hour or two in the parking lot.

I have now investigated the source of the oil and took a few photos. I have no idea wich part it is leaking from, maybe someone could tell me if the picture is clear enough to tell. And wether or not this is easy/bad/expensive/cheap thing to fix? Wherever it is coming from, its dropping the oil to the exhaust pipe and from there it drops on the floor. My bike is a 2010 SuperDuke (not R) and it has about 11 000 km on it. (6900 miles)

Thanks in advance.

The oil patch on the engine is only on the lower side of it? is there any traces of it coming down from the base of the cilinders?

You can find a few topics about smal leaks at the bottom of the cilinders but thats a little bigger than usual.

I've read an advice around here sometime ago to clean all of it, go for a ride and then grab talcum powder and throw it to see where it grabs...

And check you oil level too.

Output shaft seal perhaps? Whip the front sprocket cover off and get some pics of around there for us.

Fiver says it's the gear position sensor o-ring - I've replaced mine at least three times .

Should I be really worried about this or will I manage some riding before I am able to get it fixed ? I got a bit less than 1000 miles trip coming for the weekend.

That oil has the potential to drop onto the tyre if it gets worse. I'd wash it off, talc the area and ride it hard for a few miles and have another look. No47 could well be right. 20 min fix if he's right.
