Hey guys,
I HAVE used the search button.. and found a few threads showing new wheel setups.
Seems like its not super easy getting aftermarket wheels unless you want the BST carbon fiber stuff..
Still not exactly clear which combo people are getting to work on the SD.
I have an 07 SD, and am looking at a marchesini rear on ebay.
Its from a 09 990 SMTr (supermoto). Its the older 5 spoke pattern.
Is this a direct swap with our oem rear?
Will calipers/rotors/sprockets everything I have not bolt on?
DO I need any spacers/cush etc?
This one is wayy out there but if anyone knows how much the OEM marchesini weights. all the specs I can find are for the standard wheels.

Not an easy question.
And lots of the people that may know that answer by experience in the past, don't come here daily...
Keep the post up during the weekends...you may get lucky.
Or search the forum in 2010 and arounds that I believe it was talked about it, when a couple of guys started trackdays and racing more serious.

All I know is the forged wheels off the smt are a direct swap. I would imagine Tue cast ones are as well.

yeah, I saw that one.. not a lot of info other than BST carbon.
I have considered it.. but I tend to jump off stuff, and wheelie over things.
I'm hoping to find a set of SMTr or SDR marchesini's
I ran them on my old TLS (with the same abuse from 98 -04'ish w/out breaking one)

As far as I know all SMR and SMT wheels fit the SD. Rc8 front wheels also fit but the rear is too wide. Be careful to measure the disc sizes as even the SMR runs a smaller disc than the SD - if your happy to use the smaller discs on your wet setup (like I do) then just remember that you will need shorter caliper bolts for when you remove the caliper spacers ......
These are forged wheels from an SMR on my SD

Identical unless mines done the last 5k miles on the wrong spacers.....

Rizoma rear sets......
Not sure on the weight saving over standard wheels but all the discs swap straight over. I have the smaller SMR discs on the original cast wheels (be very careful with the mounting bolts for the discs - the wheel threads are made of cheese) with my wets tyres on. I just use shorter caliper bolts and remove the spacers from the caliper when I put the wet wheels in.
Thinking about it - I have been using the SD spacers and axles throughout so perhaps my previous comment about spacers is invalid.
