Originally the bike kept not starting and saying "soft" on the dash when i pushed the starter.
Ktm had the bike said it needed a new regulator, when it came back it behaved for a bit.
Other day after a long ride and 10minutes break it wouldnt start - same prob, I diagnosed a faulty connector block on the relay at the side of the battery - so cleaned that up and jumped it off, next day it started o.k.
Just went to it tonight and same think "soft " and just a click from relay alongside battery.......... battery has been o.k'ed,it is charging o.k and big grey plug has been done with the special grease.
Any ideas anyone ????

Very annoying problem. the SD is a bit highly strung and is sensitive to a low/weak crank from the battery.
I've come across the same code a few times and it always came down to a weak battery or bad connection.
In my case the connection came loose on the battery terminal once. Recently it happend a few time when the battery was low. Reckon it may need replacing as it ~3 years old now. Do you know how old your battery is?
I'm considering getting one of these:

Normally when the starter relay on the side of the batt box clicks in but the starter doesn't turn it is a weak battery.
You can confirm this by sticking a voltmeter over it ( or the acc connector in the headlight or anything else) and read out the voltage while giving it a crank. If it drops below 10 v while cranking the batt is fooked.
You can also see it when you crank it and the head light goes almost totally out.
Some SD's seem to have this anoying niggles with the electrics, however as an electrician I can assure you that it can be fixed by a competent do it yourselver or car electrician. Try to find one who wants to have a decent look at it for a reasonable price or a few cool drinks if you're not sure yourself.
Nothing on this bike is out of the ordinary and due to being a naked you can get to it easily. Check also for corroded and or broken wires while you're there.
