WP steering damper length?

Hey guys - Not much of a forum guy but SD.net seems to be pretty dam cool! Really great info - especially about the shite throttle and cool airbox mods. I honestly did not think the on/off throttle was going to be that bad!

Just bought the bike I have wanted for a few years now - a 08 SDR used with 6k on it and the WP steering damper was robbed off it before I got it. It seemed to need one after I rode it stock then I put light forged wheels on it and man it really needs one now - the steering super light - probably more like telepathic! I am looking into getting a Ohlins steering damper (because the OEM ktm stuff is very pricey) but need to know the stroke and max length in order to see if they have something that will work. I will probably buy the OEM mount because I don't think there is any other option. Is anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks-

That's a damn good question. The cheapie thing that comes on SDRs ain't great. The really expensive WP "race" version via PowerParts is decent - but as you point out, spen-dy.

My 2 cents: get a Scotts. On the shelf item; trivial bolt on; works great. Easier to adjust on the fly IMO. May cost a little more than some Ohlins models, and a little less than others. Easily/readily rebuildable, and with (probably) a different mount kit, good chance you can put it on your next bike.
