About Why this archive exists

The Super Duke 990 is getting on a bit now yet I think it is one of the most characterful bikes produced in recent years, this character bled through into the community that formed within the superduke.net forum. The forum contained a huge amount of valuable information for existing and future owners to help them maintain and get the best out of their Dukes, and although the majority of the members had moved on or migrated to the KTM 990 Superduke Facebook group, we continued to refer back to the content within the superduke.net forum.

In 2020 the superduke.net forum began to slowly die due to a lack of maintenance, it began to regularly go offline and posts began to disappear. In January 2021 I decided to scrape the publicly available content as a personal backup just in case the forum disappeared. With the help of OG member Bic, we tried to reach out to the forum owner to see if they would be willing to hand over the keys, but unfortunately, we had no luck and in mid-2021 the forum disappeared for good.

Life and a baby got in the way of most things for a year, including riding my Duke, but in mid-2022 I reconstructed the scraped data and produced this 20,000 page static version of the forum which is publicly available to download from github.com. I chose to create a static version to ensure the archive requires little to no maintenance going forward, keep costs to a minimum and allow it to be easily hosted elsewhere in the future to ensure there is always a copy online. As mentioned a lot of content was missing when I scraped the site, approximately 30-40%, so you will see the odd "Post missing" scattered throughout threads but I left them in place as placeholders to make it obvious when a conversation does not flow.
