Just picked up a 2007 990SD. While I have almost 200,000 miles of LC8 mileage (950S, 950SM, 950SE, 990 Dakar, 1190A), this is my first SD, but not my first Duke (1996 Eggplant)

Anyway, I find the SD sort of a paradoxical time machine--- reminds me of the things I really liked about motorcycling in my youth (immediate everything!), while at the same time reminding me that those days are seemingly receding in the distance faster than the things the bike can pass. I don't name my bikes, but if I did it would be Ike Turner because to paraphrase Tina "Ike doesn't do anything nice and easy". Can't ever remember any street bike with such little flywheel- but it sure does cook! I also can't remember a street bike that was so unaccommodating for luggage- even mounting Kreiga setup was more trouble than it should be.
But it sure is a fun bike! I've put ~700 miles on it so far on 3 rides.
I find it pretty comfortable overall from a rider triangle pov- though I will be installing ROX risers. And I think the seat sucks after 30-40 minutes (thank goodness for AIr Hawks- though I may go the Butt Buffer route).
All for now.
