So as i'm navigating my way through the lot and all the cars coming and going without even touching the throttle all of a sudden the rpm's immediately jump to about 3,500 on the clock and hover there. It's happened before so nothing new but irritating. I usually shut bike down , restart and good to go ( as i did this time as well ).
I would really appreciate any advice/experience on this matter .
Is it possible that stepper motor that raises the idle at startup has something to do with this ? Has anyone disabled or disconnected that stepper motor to the throttle body.
Just another thing to yank off the bike and UN-complicate things - like on my bike things missing ---> secondary butterflies - SAS - Evap Can - etc etc.
thnx

my favorite was the oil leak on the left side of near the chin fairing... "Check the BGC when its warm out it causes the dielectric grease to melt and leak out onto the engine" i didnt even bother with that one!
back to the OP issues. mine started doing this out of the blue and i havent been able to find it either, it would go away completely when warm. in fact it was the last straw and my bike is at a dealer for sale.
i swear this bike has been the most fun bike ive ever had but.......... im just sick to death of throwing money at it as the mileage goes up. i either have to figure it out myself,
order parts and repair, or use the local Superbike shop to diagnose what i cannot and foot the huge labour bill. mixed emotions about it but i feel so much better having made the decision to let her go. best of luck though.[/quote]
KTM SuperDuke, there is nothing on this bike that money won't fix

If there is moisture in there it can indeed upset the readings from the tps and other electrical values to and from the throttle bodies as it all passes over this connector.
As correctly suggested for this problem it is the first port of call.
If that doesn't fix it the TPS can be the issue. The symptom of the revs shooting up suddenly is a result of the tps voltage off.

next day started digging into things - took seat off checking fuses etc and then moved to the battery box .
there's a thin gauge wire that bolts up with an eye fastener to the negative side of the battery - that eye fastener had broken in two ( vibration ). But it was still resting on the battery giving a poor connection . Replaced the eye fastener and buttoned things back up and all seems honkey dorey ! full test ride coming today
don't know where that thin gauge wire goes - it runs up to the main wiring loom on the front side of the BGC - but seems like that's what was causing the problems.
thnx
another knife photo ( just finished )
