Hi guys,
I was wondering if it was possible to put a single sided swingarm on a 990 superduke (with adaptation work indeed) and if someone already tried it.
I search Google and the forum but didn't find much.
I remember a post with a guy mounting a Ducati swingarm with exhaust but I was not able to recover it.
Thing is that I found a guy who is selling his swingarm on "Leboncoin" (craiglist) for 480€ due to a slide but it was repaint... so I told myself that it was pretty cheap and that 990 will look pretty awsome with a Single swingarm and rear wheel of 1290 !!!
Things that comes to my mind in term of fitting will be :
- Depth beetween the 2 parts of the frame maybe thinner on 990 (how much ?)
- Alignement of front and rear spocket / chain
- Space on the swingarm for exhaust tube (maybe torse the tube a little
- Alignement of fixing point for rear suspension (lateral / horizontal)
That pretty much like it... parts needed will be the swingarm itself, the wheel, axes, rear breakdisc and caliper and sprocket.
If someone allready think about it
Edit : it was a hypermotard swingarm but don't like the shape of the wheel

I remember those jjlester posts form all those years ago! He was a pretty active member at one time. Do you know - I don't think he ever got that single sided project on the road, at least I don't remember ever seeing pics of it being ridden or anything - it was always in bits in a workshop!
My issue with a single sided swing arm from a 1290 is that it's the bikes weakest point with it filling up with water and having crap bearings and all that! I'd rather the 1290 engine in a 990 chassis.

Yeah right. No conclusive evidence that the bike was ever on the road. I remember thinking - where's the write up of how it handled and performed on the road or whether the guy though it was a worthwhile project.?

Maybe just buy a 1290 superduke and get the best of everything

I checked again and the difficult part seems also to find a rear wheel... Not even one on sale in France.
