So I recently had my bike serviced and they mentioned my tank is swollen, so naturally I turned to google and see its very common and due to using P6 plastic that does not play well with the shit ethanol fuel.
For the hell of it I called KTM customer service and left a message, got a call back shortly and Per their tech side they advised that if I remove the tank, drain it out and place it in a low humidity area it will shrink back to size and be good to go, then just use ethanol free fuel moving forward.
Anybody try this, will the tank shrink back to normal?
If that's the case I am gonna do it and find a place to coat the thing before I buy a new tank lol.
(Motoholigan brackets will be on their way shortly as well)

I've left my tank empty for a weeks time ( I live in the desert very low humidity) and the tank was just as hard to put back on.
I don't have any malignant tumors on the tank, but it has grown considerably.

I figured it would be too good to be true.
I can't seem to find a price online of a new tank, I am now scared to call the dealer and get one
Will the take fail in time is I guess what I need to know.
and
Has any one had their tank coated to prevent this and been successful?
I try to use ethanol free fuel any time I can, its not always easy to find.
The bike does sit a bit as well, I guess I will be adding marine stabill from now on.

Apparently "Per" is full of it. The solution has been to modify the rear tank brackets that attach to the frame or to purchase the ones from Motohooligan.

Thanks zen biker for the image.
I filed the holes in the OEM and made them very similar to MH brackets and got them to work. It's never easy to re-install the tank. But with the enlarged holes you CAN actually re-install instead of cussing like a sailor.
