Long time no talk.
I'm looking for you all's opinions on what to use to clean an SDR.
I know to use WD-40 on the Akras.
What about the soft-ass plastic parts like the tank? Mine sits out in the Colorado sun all day, do I need to use any kind of plastic conditioner on it?
How about the frame? Anybody wax theirs?
Throw me some ideas. I've been using diluted car shampoo, I'm just thinking it might be too harsh for all the plastic.
Thanks.

Have been told previously not to use a silicone based polish (Mr Sheen?) as it is difficult in the event that you need to repaint.....can anyone confirm?

Seriously, for that "hot Colorado sun", try one of these. Pricey but worth it:

Its petroleum based and therefore crap for anything plastic especially polycarbonate.
I only use it on the chain after I wash the bike and I always lubricate the chain with something else straight after.

WD40 is superb at getting all the brake dust and chain lube off of your wheels.
Just because something is designed and sold as being for one particular thing it doesn't mean it's the only thing it's good at.

I found this in a local bike shop and won't use anything else now. Spray your bike with it and then hose it off. Erm, that's it. It really couldn't be quicker or easier. Stunning results. Seems to add around 5bhp at the back wheel too.
