Dismantling
Remove the bar end weight.
Remove the rubber grip – I used 3 long thin screwdrivers to break the seal with the plastic holder. It wasn’t glued but needs help to get it off.
Loosen the throttle cable as far as it’ll go.
Remove the Allen screws and take the throttle top clamp off.
Lift the ‘close’ cable and pop the nipple out (you'll need to open the throttle to do this).
Drop the bottom throttle clamp and remove the ‘open’ cable nipple.
Reassembly
Take the G2 and fit the appropriate cam (I used 300 – I find the 200 too harsh and the 400 too soft).
As you will now be running metal on metal, lightly smear some grease inside the G2 grip holder and on the bar.
Put a small blob of grease in the nipple holders and cable guides on the cam.
Slide the G2 assembly onto the bar.
Attach the ‘open’ cable nipple.
Lift the bottom clamp into place.
Fit the ‘close' cable nipple.
Replace the top clamp making sure the G2 is level with the end of the bar and the cables run freely.
Refit the grip so that it’s level with the end of the G2. This is a bit of a pig but goes on OK – easier to push than pull.
Refit the bar end weight making sure it does not foul the throttle at all (a 1mm gap seems to be OK).
Adjust the throttle cable play (I leave about 1mm of play – stock was about 4mm) and pop the cable adjuster cover back on.
Check everything is tight and that the bike goes from lock to lock without the revs rising.
