I thought id throw this up on here as even if only 1 other person finds it useful then its worth it!
Even though changing the headlight mask and fitting/removing the number plate hanger etc was only a 30 min job (tops) i still got bored of doing it so i just went for my MOT without and lights on the bike. It passed as usual but just comes with and advisory notice that the bike should only be used between daylight hours and shouyld not be used at times of low visibility.
Just to clarify, the only thing m bike needed to pass the MOT was a number plate of legal size and the horn (and baffles put in always helps)
No -
headlamp, indicators, tail/brake light, reflector, mirrors or speedo required.
If i do ride it on the road then i will reconnect the brake light and i would put at least 1 mirror back on the bike for pure safety reasons!
Every MOT tester seems to have thier own ideas about this but my guy read the official book in front of me and the above was the result!
I wouldnt suggest this to everyone but the amount of road miles i do in a year is minimal and i can always hook up the lights etc and get it retested should i really need to

I bought a race bike (had a V5) put a number plate on (no electrics, lights brake light indicators) with a Battery operated push bike horn ...passed first time...getting insured was a bit harder (you have to tell them of the change to day time MOT...some would not insure me because of this)
