I remember reading that the tank-shrouds impaired the airflow to the engine when you have the Motohooligan Motobox airbox fitted. I've attempted to cure this issue by cutting "gills" into the tank shrouds.
Sadly I didn't take a "before" picture of the right hand side one.
You can see the Motobox filter a bit when you've got the shrouds removed.
When the shroud is fitted you can't see the filter at all.
With a bit of time with the Dremel I cut a hole this funny shape
On the other side it turned out like this.
This isn't any proven method or anything like that. I just thought that I'd start a thread and post up what I've done. Inviting others to post pictures of any shroud-mods done.
Oh, and I washed the bike today, it's not that dirty anymore!

My shrouds are still out and haven't had any problems what so ever, admittedly I don't tend to ride in pouring rain if I can help it but have been caught out with no adverse results from water. The way I figure, if the small part at the front of the filter gets a bit wet its still got about 75% of the filter left dry to suck through anyhow. I have also removed the crankcase breather and plumbed it into a small filter canister on mine.

No sense venting that toxic oily mist into the pristine inlet tract when it can be dumped into the atmosphere and get global warming back on track.
Amen to that my brother!!

This all points at that most of the OE aribox's task is to act as a noise insulator/damper.
Either way, this thread is about how to make extra air available through the front tank shrouds. I believe we can discuss airboxes, Motoboxes and such somewhere else. Thank you!
