I thought PCIII only worked up to an '08 model. I could well be wrong though.

I'm pretty sure they work on all years, but only state certain ones. So yes it should fit.
About the wire, no idea sorry.

As far as I know there has been rumour of an updated PC5 for the later models but it is still not available. I think it has more adjustability than the PC111 you have but I'm sure that it will be OK as there are no changes to the SD after '07, just cosmetic ones.
The wire is earth. It's better to go all the way to the battery terminal IMO.

It's just a marketing thing, saying that all newer bikes need a PCV, the one you have should work fine.

TuneECU is amazing because it's free, allows ignition timings to be changed as well as A/F ratios, isn't a piggy back system like a PCIII and it gives access to diagnostic tests. Oh and did I mention it's free . It's fairly easy to use, any questions are soon answered after posting on here. It's a win win really.

My laptop is a Macbook Pro with Win7 and I'm having no problems with disconnections. The other advantages are there already some custom maps for you to try out. Uploading a map is very easy. If you can find a local tuner who is willing to use TuneECU then you can get a perfect map for your bike.
