Hi
New to the forum, recently purchaced a 2010 superduke R,great bike really pleased with it,but i do like modifying my bikes. All the listed mods are well worth having a go at,i`m really pleased with mine, and has not had any negative affect on the bike, only benefits.
Initially fitted a bmc air filter, made little difference,it was a fit and forget mod.
After reading various threads,ie dna, motohooligan air box fitment, worthwhile, but very dear,i decided to fit 2 individual K&N cone filters, one on each air intake.
The work involved in this,is in my opinion was worth all the hours, removed original air box, throttle bodies, tps, wiring ets,you will need to turn off the tps and sas, with tune ecu software.
Where the sas connects to each of the cylinder heads, you fit blanking plates to the ports, available on the net.
To fit the moto hooligan or dna you will pay £400 upwards,i`ve done mine for £100,2 filters,2 sas blanking plates
Also removed 2nd and 3rd gear restrictor, disconnected the o2 sensors, also removed the secondary butterflies, all these things where placed on the bike to EU noise regs, and emission laws.
Again all turned off in tune ecu software.
I`ve a full aprovic exhaust to compliment the modifications, had it dyno`d to make sure not running to weak ,after 2 hours tweaking, throwing out over 140 break at back wheel.
So to recap, you will need the tune ecu software, a lead to connect to your wiring loom of the bike, 5 hours of your time,£100 quid for the filters, this is all achievable.
Bike runs great, just need to enjoy it.
Hope you will to
Cheers

Who did your dyno work? Got plots?
In any case, post up your maps (in the appropriate thread) with the complete mod description.

we need pictures and details mate. Sounds very good....140rwhp should be easy enough to get, I'm glad someone has finally done it.

You can get foam pods for 15quid each. That's what I'm running and got motobox equivalent gains with a custom map.
Have you got any pics of the filters on the bike. What did you do with the breather system?
It'd be good to see the dyno graph for that too and see the a/f chart. 140 is some serious power to be dragging out an SDR without internal engine work. Well done.

Nice work! I thought I did well squeezing 133bhp out of mine. Need to look again I guess.

Hi again,
The breather system on the duke, original air box enters the top of the air box,my mod does away with the air box altogether that the throttle bodies sit in,the k&n part number for the filters are RU-2650,be aware you are restricted to the height and the diameter of the filters due to the petrol tank is very close to them, and the spacing between the 2 ports of the throttle bodies.
The breathing system i disconnected at the pipe joint where the ecu is, and used a 18mm small K&N crank breather filter, again you have to connect the air box temp switch up ,else you will get a Fi warning light, all i did was to connect the sensor to the top of the crank breather ,a small 5mm hole drilled in the top of it,and to self taper holes to fix it,to simulate it being connected to the original air box.
The butterflies that i removed left 2 holes in each side of the throttle bodies,i used a 5mm dome headed bolt with an o ring to seal the inner, pushed the bolt through then another o ring, washer, nut, then cut as flush as possible.
To answer the dyno print out i`m not really interested in the bhp,i had mine on the dyno to make sure it was`nt running lean after the mods.
The company was Jon @ Jebs performance....near Banbury, warwickshire,England.
You will be saying to yourself, why did i do the mods,if not interested in the bhp,i tried initially to work on the bike,i found it so restricted around the air box,but now i have loads of room,ie for valve setting etc,but of course once you start one job it will lead to another due to the mods done before that one.
But try them,i`m really pleased with everything, and also the price i`ve done mine for compared to the dna or motohooligan set up.
Enjoy.....

can you load your map on the site for others to try, when you say full system do you mean the standard akra headers and end cans or a full aftermarket one sounds good

Have a look at the link I posted mate.
It might be an idea to add an oil catch tube into he breather filter you added. It's all in the link I posted.
It's pretty much the same mod as I did to my bike. I got 118bhp at the wheel on an 05 standard model with cans.
Can you post up the map. It'd be interesting to see where it's making it power and how the run looks. That's some good power. It's 20bhp over mine with the only main difference being its an R model.

So you had it mapped and they never gave you any print out from the dyno..............
No hp?
No torque?
the fueling ratio?
No part throttle runs?
or the run files ?
If your not intrested why mention the figure?
The dyno produces all of the above as a matter of course and the information is stored (date logged) so they can compare if you have anything else done on your bike
It would seem you gathered alot of info from this site.....it would be only be polite to share this information so others could benifit...just a thought
