When i first had my 2008 SDR i found that for the roads around me the bike was not up to the job as i found that when ridden hard the bike kept changing its handling characteristics , strange.
Reason i have since found out is that the original WP units are to say the least , a bad design , triangular shims , double action ................... bla bla
My solutoion - Wilburs rear shock and the forks reworked by Maxton suspension.
Result : Fantastic , now does the job i thought it should have done in the first intance has now really become a hunter rather than a wallowing hippo

Did Maxton say the forks are a bad design internally

I have found the forks on my SD a little strange to, but being WP I thought it was just me..... I do push the front end to hard I know.......
My TLs has Maxton converted forks which are fantastic,
Oh well off to Maxton with the SD forks then, I hope they are not to busy

I have used Maxton in the past to sort the notorious SP1 suspension which is truly punishing on any surface other than a smooth track. They re-worked my forks, built me one of their shocks with my weight in mind with a great result.
I expected WP to be a level above the standard road stuff normally fitted to road bikes. I have only been running my new set up for a few hundred miles and maybe SD Crashfest will show some shortcomings.
Why did you opt for Wilburs shock and not a Maxton? [/quote]
I put the wilburs on the rear as i have them on my R1200gs and they over 20,000 miles plus have been fantastic and plus the fact wilburs were the only aftermarket (quality shock) that was availble as Wilburs test all their shocks on the bike.
Maxton was used to do the front as they seemed the perfect company to sort the issues due to there road racing experience. ( TT - Manx - BSB etc etc)

What's the difference between 'sportsbike' style and 'how the SD is made to be ridden' ?
