I also have an idea for getting you a little bit more clearance in the airbox in the mean time (before we start working on the new seriously big air box with variable length intakes).

10.60's are quick for a street bike...
With the duke the more i kept the front down the faster i went... i did a 11.2 with the front in the air through second...
I only hit full throttle at the end of second... i think a shift light would have done a world of good too...

We have a sprint here with an s bend in the middle! I lent my bike to Fast Bikes Magazine last weekend to do it. He was going cautiously but I think he did a 11.35 or something. Slightly damp.

I'll join in but our 1/4 isn't straight.
videos are from an event where I managed 11.35 quite a while ago, the 05 only had cans and map on it.
Missed a few events due to an accident but the new bike is much quicker, did a 11.26 after shutting right off from running REALLY wide and then we were rained off. Can get into the 10s easy next year

I finally made it to the strip, was fun but got rained off just as I was getting the hang of it.
This is on Standard gearing 17/38 you can see my 60' time needs BIG improving.
If the weather is good next week, I'm going again... I want the 10

Into the 10's!
Well I got some sweet reaction times!
Won $150 for a 0.001
In the last part of the night the light system changed and I got 2 <-0.400 now I wasn't fouled out like when you jump start and I still won.
Can you explain these for me Indy?
indy84
2012-02-10 00:56:00 UTC
fook yeah 10.8... fook these dukes are quick... r1's are 10.5 with a good rider.
its the original start system is .400... its the actual time it takes for the light to reach your eyes... its phyisically impossible to see the light before .400 of a second and therefore classed as a red light... as there is no way you could have seen the green light before you launched.
the new system deducts the .400 straight away....
How did it come off the line???
i rode 1st gear half throttle and pinned it in second gear to keep the front end down

Whats your gearing, 16:40? Bike has quick shifter? Slipping the clutch at 6K rpm is the best way to have best "launch control"? ...how do you comment
omky756
2012-07-09 22:39:00 UTC
Yes the gearing is 16:40. No quickshifter at this point. For me around 5 or 6k feels good, just under the peak torque but this start isn't very good. I was too slow in getting the clutch to a good point and I rolled off a little too much through the corners. Plenty of room for improvement in September!

Hey sorry for being late to the party, didn't know there was a Super Duke drag race challenge. I guess I'm the only U.S. SD drag racer so I'll do my best. I just went to the local track last night (Wednesday) with my '06 Super Duke and already ordered a 16-40 sprocket combo from just 5-passes down the track. The bike is all stock except for an Akrop header and a pair of Two Brothers one-off proto cans, (2-Bros used my SD to do the fitment and let me have them )
This is what I posted in the other link: (and how do I post my time slip and a photo of the Super Duke)
NE1 1/4 Mile Drag Race their Super Duke?
by SUPER DUKE #1 ยป Thu Sep 06, 2012 3:30 pm
Took my Super Duke to a local NHRA drag strip for Wednesday "Fun Night" just to see what kind of times it would run. The bike is basically stock except for a one-off set of prototype Two Brothers cans with an Akrop ti header. It ran 11:404 @ 121.69 MPH. The rear tyre NEVER hooked up (too new and too rounded, need a worn out flat tread area tyre that we all throw away ) and would spin even with the front wheel off the ground. Hit the rev limiter a couple of runs that killed a chance at a little better time but "that's racing". I hadn't been to an actual drag strip in many, many years until last Wednesday when I took my '69 440 Plymouth GTX (4-speed) to the same track. They had over 50 bikes there last week and I thought the bikes looked like they were having way more fun racing and shooting the $#!T between runs than the cars so I decided I'd take the Super Duke last night. It was a lot more fun and ended up hanging out between runs with just about everyone of the 40+ bike guys there and ran the guy that won eliminations last week on a 2000 Aprilia RSV Mille running 10:70's several times. He was really interested in the Super Duke and little did he know that the same engineer Claus Holweg that designed his engine at Rotax also did the LC8 for KTM Could go on and on about last night but I have some tweaking I need to do to get the Super Duke into the 10's, stock with nothing more than a pipe and cans.
Anyone else drag raced their Super Duke......what kind of times?

Yeah there's only about two inches of travel showing and the rear is lower too. He trailered the bike there so the set-up the same evertime and he's got it down to a consistant dial in time of 10:70 or 10:67 depending on conditions. Me, I'm still all over the place right now 11:404 to 11:712. I'm going for 10:6's and Aprilia hunting Time for the carbon wheels with a flat center race compound 180 slick, what do you think?

Went 11.184 last night, so close to high 10's I could kick myself. Only one time trial run and then right into eliminations and got beat after two rounds by a 9 second Kawasaki that dialed in a high 10 and just toyed with me at the line. Now I have to figure out if I should play that game or just run balls out ALL THE TIME? This guy is a regular and has been doing this for a long, long time and told me that's what he does, he reels you in and then beats you by a wheel
Oh and I put on a quick turn throttle and that really helped! I get FULL THROTTLE quick and ALL OF THE TIME. On a couple of runs the weeks before I was in a position on the bike that I was not sure if I had the bike WFO now I'm sure! I think this may have helped, in fact I know it has helped with 2-3 tenths ET. It's the Power Parts quick(est) ratio aluminium throttle tube, not the one with the three different ratio but the single ratio. I'll get the part number if someone wants it?

Anyone know or ever compare a standard 990 Super Duke quarter mile times and speed to a 990 Super Duke R? Any guesses? Have a chance to swap my 990 std. engine for a new "R" engine and wondering if it would be worth the effort? Thanks.
