I would say that tyre wear will play heavy on this GP track as ALL riders had something to say about the new surface being agressive on tyres and aslo that it was slippery.
Spies is starting to show some good results.

How can he be 3/4 of a second faster than everyone else?
I must confess to feeling a bit disappointed in a way: if Rossi was on a bike that worked for him and the Yam was a bit better we would stand a chance of having the 4 or 5 best talents in the world battling it out wheel to wheel like in the Schwantz/Rainey/Doohan era which would be something to tell the grandkids.
BTW: its pretty clear that Rossi needs a bike that suits him and his riding style in order to go fast isn't it? Stoner molds himself to whatever the bike needs while the Doctor changes his bike to suit what he needs. This doesn't make one better than the other it is just different and fascinating to watch. Having said that i do hope the 2012 Ducati is a bike that Rossi can ride.

Stoner was very vocal over the biggest symptom of the problem, a lack of front end feel.
Of course, this was labeled as whinging by internet fanboys, and when asked about it in a interview last year Rossi said "I think it is in Casey's head" with his trademark smile.
Suffice to say the smiling stopped when he had to ride the Ducati.
As Ash points out Ducati had decided which way the project would go, and all the time Stoner could pull out the odd race win they obviously didn't see fit to make dramatic changes.
This year Rossi won't stick his neck out like Casey, and they can't be seen to have the one of the best riders in the world to be going nowhere on their bike, especially as Philip Morris have raped their petty cash box to have Rossi in there.

What a great rider and I found the race very exciting to watch. Just watching a racer at his craft is a great pleasure for me. They had Harley XR1200 races televised and our buddy Mr. Fillmore from the KTM AMA Superbike series and he managed to crash that bike also. Enter Jake Zemke.
Sadly, I have given up on Cal Crutchlow. He got punted during qualifying by non other than Casey's new punch toy DePuniet. He is not up to Colin's fine coaching techniques. Ben Spies showed that it takes more than circling a World Superbike track well to get the extra lessons to take effect from number 5. Good to see fiftyeight slide down the same mountain sixtynine did I need SBK back soon too.
