I can say that I have really enjoyed my 1290 minus the continual issues. But it will be getting replaced by the new Yamaha mt 10. Some think its ugly, I think it looks mean. And being a yamaha, shouldn't give no were near the issues my ktm has.

I read it (MT10) isn't coming to the USA or Canada next year...

MY 1290 will also be gone very soon possibly for a MT10, no problem waiting for the MT to be released as I have a fully modified MT09 to ride in between.

Just got on Yamaha's site, clicked the flag in the upper right corner and it doesn't look like the U.S. will get any in 2016. Got to maintain our 20+ year being behind. Damn, its going to have cruise control.

I wanted to love the MT10. Looked OK in photos, nice concept with the R1 engine.
Then I went and sat on one at the NEC motorcycle show.
It's comfy enough, but it's a bit disjointed design wise. Sharp front mask, soft edged tank. The forks, risers and bars look cheap. The rear end looks unfinished. The seat looks absolutely shit with the wee extra hump they've glued on half way along it.
This was a pre-production model, apparently, so I'm keeping my hopes up that the ones that make it to dealers will be better spec.
But, for now, I ain't buying one this year. I may reconsider if it turns out that better spec components from the R1 will fit, and if the engine is an absolute stonker. As it stands, the 1290 stays for another year.
