Hello Folks,
I'm looking to replace my reg/rec as I think its faulty. It is the second one on this bike, so am thinking of replacing with a MOSFET one.
Does anyone in the UK know of a good source to get one?
I have found this website which seems to be UK based and although not especially cheap, its cheaper than an original replacement plus there's no postage charge and being within the UK no risk of import duties etc.
So, does anyone have experience of fitting the thing? The wiring is slightly different from the standard unit and I read on another website that it connects directly to the battery terminals. presumably making the white connector redundant. does this sound OK and not likely to throw up any fault codes etc?
Cheers

With a previous bile (Honda Hornet) the done thing was to grab hold of a SHINDENGEN MOSFET FH020AA reg/rec and splice that into the bike's wiring.
This one looks legit..

Rich, thanks - I was hoping not to have to re-wire all the fittings!
Steve, yes - I'd seen that US site and thought it was pretty much the only place to get a MOSFET. Quite pricey and with shipping/duties, even more so.
The Motorsport Electrics site seems to be more-or-less the same item. I contacted them to ask about the reg/rec and got this reply:
Hi Tim
This rectifier is a hot shot KTM regulator/rectifier designed with mosfet technology so it a cooler running unit, the manufacturer has designed it slightly different to original and it is a 50amp unit designed to take more current that the OEM unit so basically a heavy duty unit
99% of our customers have wired the unit into the original connectors, and yes we are in the Swansea Valley so are uk based

Sounds reasonable - she didn't confirm if its a Shindengen, but it seems OK and legit so I guess I'll get one. Just want to be certain first that it is my reg/rec that's faulty.

Suggest that you replace your battery at same time - viewtopic.php?f=5&t=27581&p=334508#p334508

Yeah - I thought you'd say that!
Battery was new earlier this year but the bike's not been ridden much - just sat on trickle charge. So you're probably right

Bad OE reg/rec damages battery and, possibly, vice versa - Mosfet reg/rec seem to be much tougher - have not had to replace Mosfet reg/rec yet.
